Lucarcia is an island continent. Historically home to two empires — the Lucarcian Empire and the Rainbow Empire before that — it recently became a republic after the emperor died leaving no heir. This is a land still finding its way in the aftermath of the power struggle the old emperors death precipitated.

Most people do not distinguish between the continent and the Republic of Lucarcia, and both are really the same thing.

Ursum is the main island of the Lucarcian Continent. It holds three of the major five houses and is the center of the empire in the city of Lucar. The island is split into three provinces, the Head, Spine, and Tail. The Head is controlled by House Ruby, the Spine by the newly raised Iron House, and the Tail by House Ebon. This island is buffeted by large waves and storms in the south, but the north and eastern coasts are tranquil and sheltered in comparison. The weather is mostly temperate with a warm, dry climate in the summer and wet but not too cold winters.

The island of Manabas lies on the northern edge of the Lucarcian continent. The north shore is rugged and wracked by storms but the southern and eastern shore lines are softer and are lapped by the Inner Sea and Lucarcian Straits. Manabas is a temperate region with warm summers, especially in the south, and cold winters. The Stoneheart Mountains dominate the island and have a huge impact on travel, trade and politics as the island is effectively split up by the massive mountain range.

The Empire of Lucarcia is formed of four main islands. Ibini in the east is populated by a snake venerating people. The Jade House is the royal house of Ibini. Until recently ruled by Lily Jade, 'The Verdant Queen', this house was known to use assassins and spies, and to favor the use of poisons to solve their problems. The Verdant Queen was unusual in that she has no personal guard, though the terrifying Jade Assassins appeared to have secretly filled that role. The standard of the Jade House is a sibilant snake curled around a jade gem.

The recent revelations that House Jade was responsible for the opening of a gate to the Void and the summoning of the Naga into the lands, coupled with the death of Lily Jade and her daughter Kululu, leaves this island in a state of limbo. The three barons who rule northern Ibini appear to have stepped up measures against one another in a bid to become the most powerful force on this island.

Granita is a cursed land. The Writhing Death destroyed this island five hundred years ago and nothing has grown here since. It is a land of death and decay.

Recently members of the Jade House of Ibini opened a gate to the Void here and allowed the Writhing Death to pour back into the cursed island. This was actually a side effect of their efforts to summon a Naga Lord who they believed would help them rule Lucarcia.

Antissa is the fabled capital city of the ancient Rainbow Empire. It was destroyed when the houses of Granita unleashed the Writhing Death upon the continent and the Emperor ordered the High Mages to shatter the lands to contain the threat. Antissa was the epicenter of the quake the High Mages created and it dropped into the earth, falling into a huge crater which was then engulfed by the seas in what is now the Inner Sea.
